- UNICEF Ecuador seeks to monitor compliance with the International Code of Marketing of Breast milk (CICSLM) by applying the toolkit11 netcode (monitoring the marketing of breast-Milk Substitutes: Protocol for ongoing monitoring systems), in order to evaluate commercial and promotional practices that affect breastfeeding in four cities of Ecuador (Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca and Lago Agrio), in order to generate evidence that strengthens the analysis and generation of policies and protection actions in favor of breastfeeding in the country. Specific: 1. Apply the netcode methodology to quantify the prevalence of CICSLM violations in different parts of the health system and commercial establishments in Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca and Lago Agrio.2. Gaps in regulation, monitoring and complaint. 3. of breast milk (Cicslm), including direct promotion to mothers and interaction with health professionals. 4. the Exhibition of infant mothers and caregivers of children under 36 months of promotional messages, advertising materials, commercial incentives and other marketing strategies of breast milk in points of sale, health establishments and direct contact media.
